On a hot summer day, is there anything more refreshing than an ice cold glass of lemonade? Sitting on the dock at the cottage with a frosty glass of this sweet delight in hand is just heavenly, isn’t it? But how do you make the perfect lemonade?
It’s all about gathering the right ingredients first. You’ll need about ¾ to a cup of sugar (depending on your sweet tooth), a cup of water (for the simple syrup – details to come), 4 to 6 lemons (to make a cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice) and 2 to 3 cups of cold water (for dilution).
To make the simple syrup, bring the sugar and one cup of water to a simmer. Stir until the sugar dissolves. While the syrup is heating, juice your lemons to make a cup of juice. Pour the juice and the simple syrup into a pitcher and add the 2 to 3 cups of cold water. Add lemon juice or water to dilute if it’s too sweet. Refrigerate for at least half an hour before serving, a sprig of fresh mint from the side of the cottage and enjoy!
